Vacation Planning Presentation
In this assignment, students plan a vacation to the location of a future eclipse.
Rationale
In grade 6 science, students learn about eclipses. This assignment requires that students consider the locations of future eclipses and possible activities. Students use their present tense verb conjugation skills, but this activity could be adapted to use conditional verbs.
Instructions
Assign students the location of a future eclipse.
Students will research their location to find content that they can use in their presentation. Students will include the following in their presentation:
A brief description of the location
Five different activities that someone can do in the location other than watching the eclipse
An explanation of the type of eclipse
Students will present the content to the class. While watching presentations, the students will take notes about which locations they are most interested in visiting.
